Transcription: Tides are the rise and fall of the sea surface caused by the gravitational pull of the Sun and Moon combined with a force of gravity on Earth. Because of its closeness to the Earth, the Moon has a stronger pull on the oceans than does the Sun. Whenever the Moon is directly above an area on the Earth's surface, water in that area accumulates and rises above its normal level. This is called high tide.
